SELLERS GET READY FOR THE FALL MARKET NOW

If you are thinking of listing your house in the fall, now is a good time to start preparing your house for sale.

It is true it is a Buyer's market, but houses in good condition and priced right are selling .

You might want to decide whether you want to list with an agent or try to sell on your own. No matter what you decide , try to get your house in as good a condition as possible without spending too much.

Most people like to drive by neighborhoods and see the outside of the house before making an appointment to go inside. You might want to plant mums which will bloom in the fall, and do  other things  like trimming the bushes,  etc to improve the curb appeal.

If you have accumulated a lot of stuff over the years, have a garage sale or two and donate things that you did not sell. If you make the house less cluttered, it will look larger. You do not want to give the impression that there is not enough storage.

Fix leaky faucets and toilets. This appears to be such a minor problem, but it gives the impression that you have not taken care of the house.

If you have time,  paint the house ( neutral colors ) . This is is the best return on investment you can get. If your carpets are worn out and you have hardwood floor beneath it, you might want to remove the carpet and refinish the hardwood floor. if you have dated wall paper, please take it down and hang  new paper or paint the walls.

In a buyers market the house has to really stand out . Y ou may get multiple offers even in a Buyers market.

Ann, Thanks for taking the time to comment. No matter how bad the market , some houses always sell, and the houses that sell are usually in good condition and priced at fair market price.
