I heard on the radio the other day that there is a shortage of food at area food pantireis,, homeless shelters etc. Seems they get less donations and more people who want to use the food. They had to turn down people on Thanksgiving day.
If you know of any location where they could use some food or cash , please drop off some donations so that they will not have to turn away people during the holidays.
If you have any winter clothes that you do not use this is a good time to donate those.
We can make a difference Even if one person gets food for one day because of our donations .

Hi Gita, this is a real issue for many providing for our homeless and under feed. The economy makes it worse with budgets getting tighter and more people looking for help than ever before. Thanks for all your comments this year....have a Great Holiday Season.
There is a real shortage of food in NH. Many people lost all their food in the recent ice storm and power outage. I know that people will be generous.
We have an office at the brokerage that is just for collecting food for the local ood bank. Great post and have a great holiday season.

Wonderful advice! I work part time at our local food pantry and see the folks who are so appreciative for food. We also have a used clothing store that provides help for those in need, Anyone who works for our Helping Hands feels differently about feeding the hungry and is also more giving!

You're absolutely right. This is the 3 year my family and I are involved here in Pa. I have to say, it's the worst I've seen so far. I'm originally from NYC and am very familiar with the need of the homeless, but what saw this year was both depressing and heart warming. The amount of people in need is most definitely on the rise, but amazingly enough, so is the amount of good hearted people who are getting involved.
An additional note... we need to also consider the plight of out men and women in uniform and their families. Because there's the feeling that the service takes care of their own, they tend to be forgotten. The truth is that there aren't enough resources out there to cover their needs and they deserve all the help they can get.
